Veggie Pepperoni
Hey gang. I was wondering if anyone knew of a good brand veggie pepperoni. I made this great pizza using whole wheat flour and a combo of reduced fat and non fat cheese. Tasted great but now I wanna add somethin to it. I can't have real meat (not kosher) but also don't want all those calories and saturated fat. Thanks again in advance. :D

I believe it's Yves brand in my local store.

Can't you add the vegetables on the pizza yourself?

Yeah, Yves has a good veggie pepperoni. I eat homemade vegan pizzas a lot, and what I usually put on them is broccoli, spinach, mushrooms, tomato sauce, green peppers, and a bunch of nutritional yeast (brewers yeast). The yeast gives it all the cheesy flavor I need... and I don't really ever feel the need to put any fake meat on there. I have, however, cooked up some seitan and tossed some on as well, gives it something a little more hearty to bite into.

ok I bought a package I found at my local supermarket. I'll let you know how it tastes. Here's another question though. How good tasting is soy cheese? Does it taste at all like real cheese? Or is it "Fat-Free Cheese"-like?

I'm told soy cheese is hit or miss. The best, most melty ones contain casein (milk protein).

And that casein is creepier than milk, IMO - they genetically modify plants to produce it so they can make "vegan" cheese with animal proteins in it. Creepy!

I don't know about the veggie pepperoni but, Franklin Farms (in the refrigerated section of supermarket) makes portabella mushroom veggi burgers, veggie meatballs, and offer other very tasty creations that I have crumbled onto my pizza or into pasta sauce and it is absolutely delish! The burgers taste like they were fired up on the charcoal grill - Yummy.
