Perhaps it's an oxymoron, but, are there any energy drinks or bars that are relatively diabetic friendly? I realize that something with no carbs and no nutrients won't be very effective, and I realize that the exercise of cycling allows for a bit of slightly off diet consumption. I just don't want to eat 40 carbs per bar if there is an alternative. Thank you.
When I was still a diabetic, the glucose bars like nitebite or gluco-bar worked well for long activities. They have 15 or 21 carbs respectfully.After much hesitation, I found that complex carbs like carrots and broccolli lasted much longer than simple carbs. Propel fitness water is low in sugar and seems to work well. Low blood sugar was my greatest concern, as that had much more of a negative effect than lactic acid buildup.
