Is this typical?
I've been working on upping cadence from 80's range to 90's. I've just got to a point where I can mostly maintain that for a 5 mile ride, but my speed has dropped by about 1/2 mph. Is this just a phase and speed will come back as musles get retrained or what?
I'd say it's typical. Your speed will rise once your body adjusts to the new cadence. Right now you're probably expending a little extra energy just trying to maintain the form to pedal faster.
