Free Online Training Log

Searching turned up a thread that had a link to a neat, free, web-based training log. The site apparently was developed by a member. Pretty slick, easy to use, and did I mention free? If you want to start keeping a training log with your mileage, speeds, etc., its worth a look: ActiveBody.org

I recommend against bikejournal, unless you like paying for stuff. Sure there's a free option, but I don't think it counts.

Bike Journal is awesome. You get plenty of features if you don't want to register, but it's well worth the $10 for a premier membership. The guy that runs that site (slantz) has put a ton of work into it.

That would be me.

My name is clint and I had used lots of other web based sites out there to keep track of my biking in the past. After some time with each site, I didn't like one thing or the other and thought it was time I made my own. I'll be 100% honest; if you like the other sites, WAY COOL, I think they are great as well. But if you want to try something else, feel free to try www.activebody.org. I enjoy the fact that things I create help people manage their fitness.

There are also other PC based software as well... The author does hit these forums so I suspect he will post some info (or others that use his software) on that option as well. I just don't remember the specific info.

Long story short... lots of cool stuff out there to maintain fitness, find one you like and start going after your goals!

Cheers all,
Clint

Having used the free site activebody.org for 3 years now, I can say it is the best free option out there. It is great for tracking all of your workouts, whether its cycling, swimming, weightlifting or running. The calender tracker is a great motivational tool; nothing like looking back on the year and watching your miles climb over the months to get your butt in the saddle and put a few more in by the 31st.

Everyone has their favorite site, and activebody.org is mine. I think its worth a look.

I switched from Workout Log to activebody.org this year and have been very happy with it. Good job, Clint!

I really like ActiveBody.org. It's been a nice way for me to easily track my rides, allows me to log multiple bikes, include weather info, and track my progress toward my goals. I haven't seen a better free resource like this. Try it!

two plugs: if you appreciate the free, non-commercial sites like this forum and the activebody.org, show your appreciation here by upgrading to a red-star membership, or by clicking the 'make a donation' link at activebody.org.....

i know that sort of spoils the 'free' part, but making a voluntary paypal shot here and there is a vote for non-commercial web sites and a nice way to support the time and work that goes into them....

thanks for the plug... I hate bringing up that aspect of hosting a free site, but that does not remove the fact that the cost to run activebody is about $50 a month.

I think I'll go get my red star now...

....
now i see what you mean. wish i had started this months ago. as it is, i only have 2 measly days recorded...

and knowing that the first thing you will do after a ride is to record the data makes you go that much harder and faster....

does anyone else wish there was a 'max speed' field? or am i missing something? i'm recording that in the 'notes' section for each ride, but would like to track that too if possible..

can't wait to see that calendar fill up and those graphs go down/up as appropriate!

Sounds good. The best place to add suggestions is the activebody forums suggestion area as well.

I'm heading out of vacation folks, but will be checking my email from time to time. If I don't respond it's just because I'm enjoying some family time.

Have a good couple of weeks all!

Clint

Does anyone track their ride conditions - specifically wind? I just got back from a ride and checked weather.com and accuweather.com and they said southerly winds & 6 mph. However, when I was on the ride, there are some buildings with giant flags and those things were straight out b/c of the wind. I don't think a measley 6 mph wind could do that. Where does everyone go for accurate weather details?

Can anyone get to activebody.org today? My browser just sits there forever trying to load the page and doesn't return any error or anything.

edit: n/m...it's an IE thing...for some reason IE just sits there, but I got right on with Firefox.

Ostuni, I completely agree with you. Bikeforums and other free sites like it couldn't exist without voluntary user contributions. It amazes me that many very regular posters to Bikeforums haven't upgraded to the Red Star. The frequent use of the site certainly says they're satisfied. Common everyone - step up to the Star!

If you are in the US and put your zip code in your profile, then the activebody site will pull the weather info and add it to your ride data.
