Grapes?

Wife just brought home a huge bag full of red grapes. So fresh and juicy. Best grapes I've had in a long time.

What I am wondering, is what are the cycling benefits of grapes? Seems like it would be cumbersome to take on a ride, but maybe as an after ride snack?

Good for fluid replacement, but....Any nutritional value?

Just curious.

Plenty of sugar in grapes. Good source of vitamin C.

They make a special cycling-friendly grape. Easy to pack and they'll withstand impacts well so they are ideal for MTBing. They're called raisins.

Patriot, I saw a guy with the store bag of grapes wrapped around the stem of the bars during the STP. I just about knocked the guy over and took them. they looked good. Reminds me...there's a bag of them in the fridge right now. i'll be right back......

oh Patriot, old hiker's trick, freeze the grapes and slip them into your water bottle.
they act like little ice cubes and later can be eaten

I would think that would soggy them. It is good to puree your favorite fruit, then freeze it and use it as ice cubes.

Most fruits are excellent ride food. The problem here is portability and availability. Watermelon is a great ride food but they are rather hard to fit into a jersey pocket.

What we call "fruits" generally have decent quantities of electrolytes, sugar, complex carbohydrates, vitamins and fiber. So as a post ride food, they are superb.
