Any sports or recovery drinks without artificial colours?

I suspect I may be sensitive to the artificial colours tartrazine (aka FD&C Yellow No. 5),
and/or "sunset yellow FCF" (or at least in large quantities), both of which is in the Gatorade powder
down here.

any suggestions?

hey im back, finnaly decided to get a new account after i got banned for spaming (i was only trying to help) well the answer is, dont use gatorade! these off the shelf sports drink that you can find in a newsagent next to coke are not your best shot for sports drink.

You want somtihng designed for people who do sport not for the genral public who just drink it from day to day to compensate for the fact that they dont actuly do any sport! I use high5 i have used maxim, these types are good, so check out your lbs, you can even find 1 with a neutral taste i tihnk these are also not bad for your teeth as i left it in the bottle for a month and no mold grew.

So remember dont get the off the shelf ones form the supermarket that is aimed for the genral public.

I simply add quarter of a teaspoon (or to taste) of UNREFINED celtic sea salt to a 600 ml bottle of filtered water. Electrolytes doesn't just = sodium +potasium. The unrefined sea salt has a broader range of minerals in it so it's better balanced. Just add some cane sugar if you wan't carbs but I don't as I'm trying to burn fat.

Regards, Anthony

you can put sugar or honey in but these are simple carbs, probably the same as in the 'off the shelf' sports drink, these will only give you energy for 20 minutes and then make you blood sugar levle plumit. What you want are decent sorts drinkes like i mentioned above, that have complex carbs to last you longer.

Just about anything from the Hammer/e-caps folks. They're big into natural, holistic, unprocessed ingredients.

Best to check the ingredients list, just in case they slipped something in on you. They list their ingredients on the web site.

Gatorade Ice Watermelon flavor does not have any color added. As with any Gatorade it's loaded with other chemicals, but you asked for no color and it's clear as water.....

hmmmmm...I'm not sure we have that one down here.

Does Gatorade have artifical sweeteners?

They're not labelled, but surely with all the sugary stuff in it, it wouldn't need sweetening.

It contains a couple of different syrups as well as artificial and "natural" flavors.

I've been using an electrolyte blend, comes in packets; it's a great powder mix. Within minutes it gives me the energy I need and I find that I am more mentally alert. It even reduces my sweat! The energy blend comes from a combination of slow metabolizing fructose and fast metabolizing carbohydrates (maldotextrin) and B vitamins. Also has all the electrolytes needed. It has NO artificial sweeteners and/ or harmful ingredients. It's been certified by the International Olympic Committee to be safe for athletes who compete at higher levels. Let me know if you want to try a sample.
