Weight Loss - What's you're start and goal?
A LOT of us trying to lose weight here.....I thought it might be interesting to see where you started (or are starting) and what is your goal?
I started a 350 last month....am down to 338 as of yesterday. The goal I am telling myself is 200.
I'm not going to make my goal unrealistic....if I achieve the 200 and it stays off, I can set a hgiher goal (or is it "lower" goal).

My start, back on July 1 2003, was 210 (at 5'1" that's almost 50% BF -- should be BFH -- Big Fscking Hips). My ultimate goal is 140 (and I'm presently at --- *eep* -- 173). If I continue at my present rate of weight loss I might hit 155 by end of September (I tend to gain a little over the winter months -- I think SAD is causing me to eat a little more -- that or the various holidays involving chocolate, chocolate, chocolate, egg nog and chocolate).
That all said, I'm just happy to be alive, riding my bike and explore my little warp world!

I was 130 a year ago. I'm at 115, and my ultimate goal is 103-107 (my weight before kids). I'm 5'1" and 46. Recently started doing Eat to Live by Dr. Fuhrman.
What's SAD stand for?

SAD = Seasonal Affective Disorder You'll find that those in northern climates are more likely to get this. Largely due to less sunlight, can often feel more depressed and withdrawn.
103-107 at 5'1"?! Seems really skinny! (maybe just me)

Started at 195 in early June, at 176 now, final goal of 160ish.
Cutting white carbs and 30-50 miles a day 6 days a week really peels off the pounds.

Started Jan 05 @ 310 now at 280 ultimate goal 235, then we will see where we are. Last time I saw 235 was 6 years ago. Already had more sucess than in the last 4 years.

Started about August '04 at 135kg, down to 114kg on my way to hopefully 84kg. I'd based my ultimate goal on the weight that would be the top of the "normal" BMI bracket. That said, I've seen different places consider that top BMI as being 24, 25 or 26. Does anyone have a more definitive answer for that? I've used 26 ('cause its easier) and really it doesn't matter a damn, but it would be nice to know.
BTW, Santaria, it looks like you've gone from about where I was to where I want to go. Congrats! How'd you find the process? No troubles or lots of troubles? Easy to start or hard to start? Easy to keep going or hard to keep going? What sort of changes have you made? Any bit of info helps
cheers

Well I came into cycling at 250ish. I have gotten up to 288. This year I decided to turn that around and am working back down to 250. I am at 270 right now having lost 18 pounds so far.

235 march of last year
185 goal for a running race last oct.
142 now, I kinda overshot my mark. After you go under your goal it scares the hell out of me when I have to figure out how to put weight back on (I guess that is how eating disorders are formed)

Started November 2004 probably in the 410-420 range. Didn't weigh, don't know. Had been 396 in June 2004, but I'm sure I gained after that.
Now 304-308 depending on the day.
Goal is 200 and able to do three pullups unassisted at that weight by age 30, which gives me until March of 2008. I have never in my life done an unassisted pullup, and I was listed at 275 when I played college football, so this is a significant goal for me. If I reach it, it'll literally be the best shape of my life.

Started my diet in May of this year. Starting weight was 210, now down to 185. My goal weight is 155-160. When I get down to 178, I plan on losing only one pound a week. So, I guess, if all goes as I hope, I'll achieve my end goal as far as weight in about 23 weeks, in January of 2006. Christmas and Thanksgiving worry me some, but I'll try my best to cope.

I'm 178 cm (5'10").
Started at 79 kg (174 lbs) May 1st.
Currently at 72 kg (157 lbs).
Aiming for 65-66 kg (143-145 lbs).
Body fat is crudely estimated to just over 25% for the starting point, and around 20-21% at the moment. That's 4.5-5 kg (10 lbs) of pure fat right off!
My pants keep sliding down (can't afford new ones at the moment), and that's due to the 7-8 cm (~3") my waist has shrunk.
If I manage to keep up the current weight loss rate, I'll reach my "goal" weight in October or early November.
From September and onwards, I'll start going to a gym. Slow, controlled and strict with low weights to begin with, to condition my body for heavier exercise later.
Then, when I'm at or near my goal weight, I'll start going heavy, aiming to build core and leg strength to begin with, and hopefully gain some mass as well.
By this time next year, I hope to be up to around 70 kg again, but this time with a much better muscle/fat ratio.

Started at about 265, maybe even 270 (hopelessly unreliable old scale) in early June. Today my (hopelessly unreliable old scale) said I was 260, and my belts are getting a bit looser, so something's working. But i haven't changed eating habits yet, so that's next on my list.
My initial goals are 200 pounds, 36 inch waist. Man would that be cool! Haven't seen either in twenty years.

I'm 5'11" and was 230 August 04, the day after my 27th B-day, 8-24, I got serious about eating right along with my already fanatic bicycling and got down to 163 by March 05. I now fluctuate between 163 and 168 but I also lift a lot so it varies quite a bit, but I feel so much better! My goal weight was 170 so I feel fine where I am , but still have some belly, although that is likely also just some skin too.

Started diet in May....went from 152 to 146.5 within a few days, so that was probably just water....but since then I have gone to 138, so I consider it an 8.5lb loss. My goal is 130. If I could get to 125 I'd be ecstatic, but anything below that is probably unrealistic. I am 5'5".

5'9" male.
March 2003 - 212lbs.
Started Eat to Live by Dr. Joel Fuhrman.
July 2003 - 180
October 2003 - 168
This morning - 166
Goal weight - 158-160.
Still doing Eat to Live (its not a diet - its a way of life)
We'll see. It seems like I need to eat constantly.
Maybe 165 - 167 is just how much I am supposed to weigh. My wife says I am too thin, but I think I still need to lose about 8lbs.

5'8 Male Started July of 2004 at around 235
Currently I'm 138 and can't seem to keep weight on I just got a real bike (had a stationary) in June and have been increasing my miles per week since. I've been sick a few times and had to go to the hospital recently but I'm going to try and finally get in a full week (5 days for me) of 20 mile days. I guess I just need to eat more but I'm starting to get worried. LOL, I'm sure most of you would love to have my problems.

Im a 72in tall, 225lb, 42 yr old former Cat 4 racer.
I was 185 when i stopped in 2000. I had balloned up to 250 and am now riding with the intent of racing again in 2006. I have lost about 20+ lbs since starting in late May and should realistically be down to a goal weight of 175 in time for the build phase of my race training in early 2006. My short term goal is 200+/- by the Seagull Century in October. This is my favorite non-competitive event/ride and at the height of my fitness i was able to 2-up TT with a mate in 4hr 25min. I've done the Seagull 9 times since 1994 (I skipped 01 and 02) and last year was the first time i could not finish. I quit at 75 miles. Just hit the wall. It aint happening again. My best solo time was 4hr 50min in 1999, but im looking to enjoy myself this year. My ultimate goal is 165-170lbs. I plan to address my historically weakest link, climbing.

49 years old, male, last I checked.
6'0" to 6'1" and change depending on slump factor.
May 2004 295 pounds.
Fall 2004 260 pounds
January 2005 240ish pounds.
May 2005 220ish pounds
July 2005 210ish Pounds
August 2005 200ish pounds.
Goal. I think 180 will be okay. However I'll do a mirror check and reconsider. I suspect 170 may be more better for me.
I will maintain my body weight on home made pizza and fruit slurpys, chocolate laced coffee and oatmeal
with chocolate with peanuts and some fruit.. I could go on about the ice cream and barbecue chicken but I don't want to distract anyone so I'll stop for now.
The past 12 years of my life was a mess and my body weight hovered in the 270 to 300 range mostly near
290 for the prior six or so years.
Cycling like a mad loon is part of daily lifestyle change for me and I'm loving it.
P.S. No longer need expensive oral diabetic meds (avandamet 180$ a month) to control blood sugar.
