Lateral Release

I have been had knee pain for many years. It has gone in wave from being tolerable to not being able to walk or straighten it at times. I have had my left knee scoped once and the right one scoped twice for cartalege and maniscus damage. I have now had a doc recomend that I get a LR on the left one due to my quads and ligaments being very very tight. I have also gone through lots of PT to attemp to loosen them with little success with anything staying loose. Has anyone had any experience with this?? Please help. Thanks
