GNC Gold Cards...what's up with them?

I use to shop at GNC quit a bit when i was doing power lifting, but since then i haven't been there much. They always wanted to know if i wanted to apply for a gold card. I know you get good discounts with them but i can't remember what else they said about them. I would like to know what the catch is if there is one and how much i have to pay to have one. Someone out there has to have an answer for me. Oh yeah...do you have to have credit to own one? Thanks for any help.

First I do not believe that you need to have credit to have a GNC gold card. I believe that they are $20.00 per year. I believe that you get a 20% discount off of retail the first 7 days of every month. You do get there magazine with bonus sales and coupons. I may not be 100% accurate with the numbers here.

As far as a catch, I guess that if you do not save more than $20.00 over the course of a year you should not get one. This would depend on how many vitamins you would plan on buying from them at their retail price.

I hope this helps.

The Gold Card is just dicount card like the grocery store gives you. There's one day a month you get 50% off any purchase.

I used to keep my GNC gold card then head out the first Tuesday of every month for my discounts. It's not 50% either. I want to say it's 5%... or maybe 10%.

I've found some great online stores, though, and they are much cheaper than GNC even on a really good day. I dropped that GNC card right after that.

Personally I have saved quite a bit of money with the grand total discounts, including the card. You can only use it during the first 7 days and you get 20%. I am a regular user of the weight gainer 2200 gold meal supplement. I am out in a rural area so they have to ship it to me but I still come out ahead even with shipping than if I had to pay regular prices. The magazine alerts me to sales on the stuff and I order around 4 at a time because I get the card discount plus the sale discount plus the savings on mailing larger quantities. By the way, the magazine has a lot of hype for their products but they usually have a few good articles with no product hype.
