Too good of a night's rest???
After long hard rides I usually have the energy to keep awake. I'm tired mind you but I'm just not the type who will then lay on the bed and sleep like the dead (as my mind is jsut way to actve I guess). I also wake up at around 6:30 am the next day like somebody poured cold water over me, regardless of how tired I was from the day before.
These last few days I've taken the habit of having green tea before I go to bed, and I am just knocked out. Really deep sleep with those dreams you only get when you're really tired. This am I was surpised to wake up at around 8 am. For the rest of the day I feel a bit more sluggish or am I just more rested?
On the one hand good night's sleep should be a good thing but I was wondering if there's a chance that in this case at least, it's counter-productive.

Personal i dont sleep much more than about 5-6hrs a night, without any problems. but i needed some painkillers after an acident they used to knock me out, was getting 7-8hrs sleep, i felt tired and during the day. stop taking them but 5-6hrs and feel good again.
i suppose some of us do better on less sleep.

in training literature i've been reading (cyclists training bible, serious cycling), they say someone training for maximum growth (season is over, next year), should be getting at least 8hrs of sleep, sometimes 10hrs... with a nap in the daytime encouraged.
