Kind of a lame article, must have had space constraints. No discussion of why these people are fat and getting fatter. No discussion of exercise, no discussion of diet.

Just a lot of hand-waving. What's everyone waiting for? Gov't. intervention?

Don't pay any attention to media nonsense like this. Articles have to compete for readers so the tendency is to write articles that attract attention by dramatic claims. I'm in control of my weight. If I eat right and exercise regularly I should be OK, just like the millions of Europeans who are not going to become fat. Americans eat too much and exercise too little. For most overweight people, lack of self control is the bigget problem.
