Greetings from sunny Phoenix Arizona.
I've read many inspiring posts about people on this site who are on a quest for fitness and weight loss, with a common theme that recognizes the key role that cycling can play in such efforts.
I have made this journey once before, going from 272 pounds to 180, and from huffing and puffing from the effort of riding a few miles, to logging 200+ miles a week, racing, riding with the fast group on club rides, doing centuries, etc. I maintained my weight for a bit over a year before falling off the program when I got married, moved out of state, and took the easy path of being a couch potato.
Well three years have passed since my cycling prime. I find myself at 247 pounds and disgusted with myself. As of two weeks ago I started a program of cycling and diet, and have a goal of being at 180 pounds again by the end of July. I know it can be done since I already have done so once before. If I had only continued cycling I would not be in the sad shape I am in right now. LESSON LEARNED!!!
In addition to posting my progress (both as a cyclist and dieter) here, I will also be maintaining a blog of my journey at http://spaces.msn.com/members/Pedaloffpounds/
Wish me Luck!!
