vitamins
Just wondering what if any vitamins all you fellow forumities are talking? Me I take every single day a multivitamin & mineral formula (Kirkland Signature, Costco's version of Centrum Performance). A few months ago I started taking Super b-Complex supplement and Chromium Picolinate 400 mcg. The last two really was an impulse choice while reading the labels at Costco... helps normal functions of the nervous system (super b-complex) and helps maintain a healthy blood sugar level (Chrominum Picolinate)

Throw the stick!!!!
The only thing I'm taking now is Ester-C. I have been told that it helps the immune system which is important as hard as I am working right now. I was taking Centrum Performance but was basicly told that one a day type pills are useless. I have no facts to back that up though.
Tomorrow I will have a much better idea of what I need to be taking. I have an appointment with a nutritionalist so that should help clear everything up for me.

i would disagree. they're cheap and i certainly don't think you could do harm with them. i do know that some are not proponents of vitamins though.
your body will absorb them and use what it needs. i don't see that as being useless.

I just started taking "Ultra Vita Man" from Vitamin World. It seems like good quality for a good price, here is a copy of the label. $13.97 for 200 pills (two a day), buy one get one free. So, $14 for a 6 month supply. Anyone have an opinion as to whether this is a good vitamin?

Yeah, I don't think vitamins are a magic-bullet or a miracle "performance" enhancer. They won't improve your fitness above your current physiological level. What they can do is help prevent a deficiency of some sort, which can harm and lower your performance, such as if you're on a low-calorie diet of some sort where you don't eat enough. However, the average American eats multiple times more than people in other parts of the world and vitamin deficiencies are more rare than getting hit by lightning. So... take whatever vitamins you want, I doubt Brand-X will result in any noticable differences over Brand-Y. Your body will just absorb what it needs and the extra gets flushed down the toilet.

i still do advocate vitamins to those who take care of themselves. to those who don't take care of themselves... i ask, "why bother?"

A good vitamen regimine is necessary to maintain healthy cells. A balanced multi similar to Centrum (or Centrum Silver for those over 50) -which are also available in knock offs from various drug stores, or even Sams Club is a must. A multi B (50), C (1000) are also advised. Some people take Fish Oil, vitamen E or other antioxidents. Daily supplements are important in my opinion.

I do know that since I quit taking the Centrum Performance that I don't feel any better or worse. I am looking forward to visiting the nutritionalist later today to get a better idea of exactly what I should and should not be taking.
