Sweat... a lot

I know that I sweat more than the average guy, but tonight just kinda got me thinking. I did a spin class tonight because my weather has been crud. By the time we were done I had a small pond around me from the sweat that I put out. It was... well.. excessive. I'm a well dieted/well hydrated kinda guy. I do the things I should do to stay hydrated - especially when I know I'm doing any indoor training.

I looked around me tonight and I was the only person of 20 that had a puddle the size I had on the floor. Do any of you find that you sweat just excessively more than others? This is one of those "I don't really care but I'm curious to know" posts. I don't think I have the drive to change anything about me to reduce sweat, and I just say I was working that much harder than everyone else

Anyway, any sweat reduction techniques?

I find that it's pretty difficult to acquire a sweat while in my PJs on the sofa watching golf on TV. Especially since golf is so boring that it puts me to sleep.

So maybe a little drool, but no sweat.

I'm the same way. It's pretty disgusting when I'm done on my rollers, too, even with a big fan pointed right at me. I avoid stationary bikes at the gym because I don't feel like soaking the carpet, so I stick to other things like the treadmill (I always wipe down equipment when I'm done though). I know I'll never be able to commute in work clothes because I'll get them soaked, so it's always a full change of clothes for me.

Can't really say I know of any good sweat reduction techniques, I just deal with it at this point.

Same here. I have given up on being ashamed about being a sweathog, and have come to embrace it in all it's glory; after all, it could be the next step up on the evolutionary ladder. Sadly, my wife and daughter, being "sweat-challenged" like so many others out there, are disgusted by my body's near superhuman ability to give up it's salty nectar. I mean seriously, what's up with that?

There is a condition called "Hyper Hydrosis", the most common symptom is excessive hand sweating. I have "Cranio Facial Hyper Hydrosis" which is excessive sweating from the head, but I notice I sweat more than most folks in general. I have instances in the summer where I'll walk across the parking lot from my car to my office and the hair on the back of my head will be wet by the time I make it in to the front door. I do not have this problem with my underarms. Also, I notice when walking through a mall in winter, when they have the heat cranked up, I'll have the same problem. Very strange to be the only one sweating in mid winter!! It is a slightly annoying problem.

I sweat quite a bit more, at least I think I do, than most people. But another thing I notice, I always "drink more" than most people.

I'm amazed at how little some riders can get by with on long, hot rides. There are some relatively big guys going 50 hilly miles on two bottles, on hot days where I'd need a Camelback.

If you sweat a lot, that's just how you are. If you have to drink a lot, then you probably aren't getting the right electrolyte replenishment. Gatorade (previously the highest electrolyte content drink out there) only replenishes half of what you are losing. There is a product called Eload that I've been using for 3 years now that has twice the electrolyte content, and has a blend of 5 electrolytes, not just 2 or 3 like most other products. Having the correct amounts and ratios will help your muscle tissues retain the proper amount of fluid needed to perform correctly for longer periods of time. I used to drink tons of water/gatorade/accelerade/cytomax, you name it. Now just Eload and I've never felt better. I never cramp, bonk or get an upset stomach and the product has a money back guarantee stating that. You can get it online at https://www.bikeworld.com/components/....html?cat=1093

i had the same experience in a spinning class last week. there were about 10 people there and i had puddle under my bike from all the sweat. i also sweat a ton on the treadmill at the gym. it takes a lot for me to be embarassed and i was borderline. it didnt help that i was wearing a cotton t-shirt. i was literally soaked all the way down the front of my shirt. i didnt even look at the back. i ended up getting an under amour shirt, but it hasnt decreased the sweat amount. but, i know im keeping hydrated enough and if im not i get dizzy and light-headed. i just kinda deal with it. doesnt really bother me. i guess try some sweat wicking clothing. thats probably all we can do. cheers.
