I don't have any personal experience with morning cardio for weight loss, however I can attest to it's effects of increasing my metabolism throughout the day - which would be a great thing for your goals to loose weight. I think the only challenge will be to maintain a very healthy diet while doing this, as a metabolism increase can cause a desire for refueling (aka food). I think in your case, doing a fat-burning work out in the morning (slower, sustained exercise for longer periods vs. high intensity for short periods) could only be a good thing.
I applaud you for your motivation to be healthy and fit. I only wish my girlfriends brother, who is in a similar situation as you, were as motivated.
