    Morning Cardio?

    Well I just did another post in my blog (plug plug) about morning cardio. I did it from google search and looking at some of the pages, all of which seemed to be positive. I plan to start doing an hour of low intensity cardio every morning, and high intensity later in the afternoon. Need the High intensity to up my cardio endurance. So for anyone here who has lost weight/got in better shape, did you notice a major difference with morning cardio?

    I don't have any personal experience with morning cardio for weight loss, however I can attest to it's effects of increasing my metabolism throughout the day - which would be a great thing for your goals to loose weight. I think the only challenge will be to maintain a very healthy diet while doing this, as a metabolism increase can cause a desire for refueling (aka food). I think in your case, doing a fat-burning work out in the morning (slower, sustained exercise for longer periods vs. high intensity for short periods) could only be a good thing.

    I applaud you for your motivation to be healthy and fit. I only wish my girlfriends brother, who is in a similar situation as you, were as motivated.

    I do morning spin classes before school everyday and its the best thing to do! School is a long process for the mind but a spin class helps rid of most fatigue and bad morning moods. Its a great way to start the day awake, energized and happy. I ride without any food also. The hardest part though can be the first few minutes trying to get out of bed.

    I'm not sure if I could do cardio by myself in the morning so doing it with other serious people in a spin room (5:30AM class is pretty serious!) is motivating.

    Well, given the same expenditure of calories, a morning workout versus an afternoon, evening, or middle-of-the-night workout really doesn't make any difference for weight loss. It's still calories in versus calories out, doesn't matter when.

    However: I find it a lot easier to get going in the morning. I always feel energized and ready to attack the day's tasks, even after a fairly aggressive morning effort. I know some folks that have a class that starts at 7 p.m. and ends at 9. I can't imagine doing that.

    I do most of my riding early in the morning, and it has helped me lose over 100 pounds of fat. I ride in the morning because there is nothing else to compete for my time. It is harder for me to maintain a particular heart rate level compared to an early afternoon ride, but the consistency makes it worth while.
