Yet another trainer question...CycleOps Magneto...Anyone got one??
Thinking about buying one of the new "CycleOps Magneto" trainers for this winter. Anyone got one? Opinions?
Hard to decide which one to get. One person tells you fluid is the only way to go. Next person tells you fluid trainers will leak after a while. Rollers look like maybe not so boring but I dunno if I'm ready for rollers just yet. This new "Magneto" model seems like a good compromise with it's variable resistance. Just like to hear from others that have tried it out.

Dragracer,
I don't have the magneto, so I can't really comment on
it. I do know that leonard Zinn really liked it when reviewed
for Velonews.
I won't even go into the whole rollers thing (my preference).
that said, I do have Cyclops Fluid2 (squared) that my wife
uses. It began leaking and I contacted them, the promptly
sent me a new resistance unit, and postage to send
the old one back. A year later when it started chirping
like a bird I called Cyclops, they suggested tightening
the axle for the flywheel, when that didn't work they
sent me yet another resistance unit.
Now this is a 3 year old trainer
and they treat it as if new purchase.
Can't ask for better service if you ask me.
I would have no problems buying another cyclops product
or Highly recommending them to anyone who will
listen.
Marty

I don't know about the magneto, I have the fluid2. But I know someone who has a like new magneto for sale if you're interested. He might have used it once. Nothing wrong with it; he's just lazy.
