    New toy

Well I have had this new toy now for three days and boy am I loving it. The YMCA had one and after trying it out I knew I had to have one at home.......

It is a concept 2 indoor rower. It kicks your a$$ if you push your self or it will allow you to do a casual cardio workout. I think it is going to be a great compliment to my winter cardio program. I will back off of it during peak riding seasons but for now its ROW ROW ROW YOUR BOAT!!!!!

    Any others tried these out??????

    Hi,
I have been using the rower at my gym. I am told it's the same one the Olympic rowers use to train. It's very nice, tho I do wish I could swap handles. I like to mix up my training, feels a lot different than pedaling, doesn't it?

Yea it is seriously different from cycling. I am looking forward to getting faster and smoother with it so I can post some good times on the C2 website. I did 5000 meters today in just over 21 minutes. It was a moderate to hard effort so I know I can do better.

If you ever decide to get one go to concept2.com and order direct. It is 300-400 dollars less than what I found retailers selling them for. Plus you will save on the sales tax.

My biking has been les than 80 miles a week here lately so it is a welcome additioin to my training.

    Hi,
my gym has a Concept 2, and that is what I've been using. I have to work into these things slowly, so I am currently doing 5 to 10 minutes at 300 to 500 on the meter. Not sure 300 what, that's just what the thing says. I spin easy for 10-20 min to warmup, then I do a treadmill for 15-20 min increasing speed and elevation once a minute. Then I start doing the more vigorous stuff like rowing, the jogging machines or steppers, and of course, the exercycle. Right now I am base building at more interested in that than intensity (sigh).

    Hi Late,

Yes I tend to go a little overboard sometimes. Last nights row killed me and this morning it was difficult to negotiate the stairs.

I just noticed you are in Maine, wow!!! I want to visit there some day. I love the outdoors and all the info and documentaries I see on Maine are just fabulous.

    Happy rowing!

    Sam

    Hi,
funny you should say that. I tried a weird exercise yesterday, and the backs of my legs have felt like hamburger all day.
