Yup, winter sucks. I've got spaghetti legs now. I don't want to spend half the summer getting back in shape and only having a month of decent biking left, so I'd like to start now. I'd like to have an indoor trainer without breaking the bank. Any suggestions?

I got a nice CycleOps "Magneto" model off ebay a while back for about $150 delivered. I really like it so far, no complaints at all. It retails for a little over $200 I think. I feel like it's helping me quite a bit since it's been way to cold to do anything outside for a while. As the old saying goes, you get what you pay for. If you buy a cheap one you'll probably hate it and never use it. Just my 1.5 cents...

I don't really even know what to look for. I figured they're all about the same. Holds your bike up, and applies resistance to the rear wheel. Seems pretty simple. What makes a good one?

Not true. There is a lot of difference between models and manufacturers and different types (fluid, mag, wind).

There has been a lot of discussion about various models in these threads.
