Any one work with a personal trainer?

I am looking to meet some fitness and weight loss goals other than can be achieved on the bike alone and am considering working with a personal trainer. I am looking to add core strenght, increase weight loss, and increase stamina and endurance. At 36 years old 250 lbs, I just do not know how to work out properly anymore. I currently ride approx 100 miles a week and after my ms 150 ride I want to round out a good workout routine to add to my biking.

Personal trainer

You can reach several of your goals by continuing with your biking. Endurance, stamina and weight loss can all be worked while increasing your VO2max. You do need to add strength training into your program to help prevent injury and increase strength, power, hypertrophy or endurance depending on what you want to accomplish. I would look for a trainer with a national certification. They will evaluate you for health risk factors and be able to assist you in reaching your goals in a safe and efficient manner. You do want a trainer with a history of success. Unfortunately this can have a down side. If you fail to make progress (diet and exercise) they will dump you like a hot potatoe. This requires that you be highly motivated! You might want to ask around at running clubs, bike shops, gyms or your local university.

I've been lifting wieghts for about 20 years and I'm amazed at how mant people I see in the gym just waisting their time by not doing exercises correctly, or not following any real work out program, they just wander from machine to machine. They are really just wasting their time and money. If you're new to the gym and not sure exactly what you should be doing to achieve the goals you have, a personal trainer is a very good idea.
