Endurox R4

Has anyone used these before to aid recovery? I'm thinking for buying it but I do hope to listen to comments and reviews of the product.

I bought some.. I really only use it on strenous rides, so when I get home I am not bonked out...It is a subjective thing, I think it works.. One time at work of late, I was really achy and thought I would have a difficult time getting into work mode. Took some of the Eundurox and I felt a lot better fast..

Hi,
you have a 20 minute window after a workout where glycogen replacement occurs at 3 times the normal pace. Anything with a little protein will do the trick; but it should digest quickly. I really like fruit smoothies; but anything will do.

Nothing will help you recover like Endurox R4. I also down a glass of it 4 hours before a race, superb stuff. If you are a casual rider, though, the benefits are probably minimal.

So Late you are saying Endurox or whatever needs me ingested as soon as you stop exercise.. I get to work I usually clean up and probably 30-40 minutes after my commute; I get a chance to settle down and hydrate or whatever.. So the Edurox is less effective, the way I have been using it..

What about the high doses of Vitamin C and E? Vitamin C is at 470mg, 780% of daily value and Vitamin E at 400 I.U. , 1330% of daily value!!

Will the high doses of vitamins cause toxicification?

Anyway, I just bought one today, hopefully it is a really good product.

Hi,
Cyclezealot,
my understanding is that the stuff was designed to be taken immediately after exercise. But it certainly wouldn't hurt to take it a little later. You might want to try it that way sometime.

Oxologic,
I would be amazed to hear of someone being poisoned by Vitamin C. It's a little easier with E; but I took a 400 IU pill for years; and outside a couple extra arms...I'm fine. Truthfully, the stuff is good for you; my Doc told me to take it. Eventually taking Vit E will make you crave zinc; which for me winds up as a craving for beef.
Endurox may have zinc, never tried it personally.
GNC makes a natural Vit E with tocotriol (a recently discovered isomer that may, or may not, have biological value) and I take that in the 200 IU strength. Vit E is an antioxidant, and I'm a big fan of antioxidants.

i feel like R4 is good stuff. i take it only after HARD workouts - where i know i need some serious recovery. it really seems to reduce muscle soreness and fatigue and help recovery.

if it were cheaper i might take it after every ride.

i think best is in the hour after a ride, but anytime in the next 4 hours is ok --- i.e. if you have to train or drive home after a ride.

Cyclezealot,

According to the makers of Endurox, the window is
when maximum benefit is acheived. The efficacy goes
down as the window closes but it is never a situation
where it would be useless to take (well, maybe after
a 2mile jaunt around the neighborhood, but you
catch my drift).
BTW Accelerade say this on their web site:
Enzymes responsible for manufacture of muscle glycogen are maximally stimulated 0-2 hours after exercise. Therefore it is essential that a carbohydrate supplement be taken in this time frame to optimize recovery
That kinda blows my earlier statement but I remember
reading that in their product literature.
you can read more about it at
Accelerade

To review some more discussion, do a search on Endurox. There's been some other discussion about it.

I use it after strenuous rides or workouts. Not sooo expensive when you work out cost/serving.

During serious training, my legs would ache almost all the time. A sign of overtraining or poor recovery? I tried R4 first before cutting down on miles. And yes, it worked! Drink it as soon as you get off the bike, and you'll feel the difference. ps. Believe it or not, I don't work for Endrox.

I shoulda mentioned....

Steer clear of the LEMON-LIME!!!!! Unless you like drinking while holding your nose.

I like fruit punch (fruit flavor PINK, made from pureed tutti-fruiti). TANGY ORANGE is also good. Don't know about any others.

I've used endurox and it works for me. I suspect one could get similar results from a cheap carbo drink with a tbspn of whey protein mixed in...no scientific evidence, just a reading of the ingredients list.

I believe the only flavour available in Singapore in the fruit punch. I haven't tasted lemon-lime nor tangy orange. I won't mind trying them out when they are sold in the market. Actually, the fruit punch doesn't taste exactly great, but after a long intense workout, anything tastes great!!
