So I'm thinking about trying to do some races this winter/spring and I'm adding strength training to my routine. Never raced before but it seems like it would be fun.
Currently I do cardiovascular-oriented stuff about 6 days/week, like maybe biking 4 times for about 1.5 hours and running 2 days/week for about an hour. I think initially I'd like to add some squats to increase quad strength. Hindu squats, possibly, so I don't need to have any equipment.
Question: for people who mix in strength training, do you do it before, between, or after your cardio stuff? Does doing it one way work better? Is it bad to do strength training and then do an hour-long ride?
Any advice or opinions appreciated.
