Out fishing with Annie on his lap, a cigar in one hand and a ginger ale in the other, watching the sunset.

Wattage and the Handlebar computer question?
I have the Kinetic Trainer from Kurtz and it came with a computer. Does anybody know how accurate the wattage output reading is?
This is the reason I ask. It was done just pushing as hard as I could after a reset. 501 watts? Is this accurate?

I mean sounds about right, unless you actuatly race and have been strength training for a long time.
Considering some of the best road sprinters in the word put out 1600 watts and the best track sprinters put out 2000 watts.

Sure could be accurate. But then again, the pros only put out ~400-450 watts (for hours on end, though)...

Something in that neighborhood is definitely believable as a maximum (I'm going to assume that's what the 'MXW' indicator is). It's hard to say whether that's truly accurate without another power meter to compare to. Many trainer-based power meters have been shown to be inaccurate and/or inconsistent but that inaccuracy may or may not matter to you, depending upon your training program.
