Making Rollers Sticky?

My father gave me his old trainer. Basically it works like this.

Clamp bike into trainer, bike sits on fixed roller with your weight on it. Yes I know, this is very hard on tires.

However, its decently quiet except for the fact that when the tire moves, it creates a squeaking noise that I can't stand.

Has anyone found a way of making roller abbrasive or sticky to keep the tires from squeaking?

Could be the bearing is dry in the roller. Sealed-cartridge bearings are easy to replace. If it has a rubber seal, you can even pry that off gently and grease the bearing.

Or it could be the tyre sliding on the roller. There's usually an adjustment on the roller arm that lets you press the roller harder against the tyre.

There is no roller arm.

The bike sits on the roller with my 210lbs forcing the tire onto it.

That's more than enough weight to prevent any tyre-slippage. Sounds like dry or bad bearing in the roller then.
