Dumb Edge 305 question....

I can't get any reading off my HRM, even after several tries of removing and adding and re-scanning on the 305. I've made sure that the strap is placed correctly (my Polar works just fine), there's no interference in the room, and that my chest and the strap were wet where the contacts were made.....

Before I go swapping the battery or contacting Gamin, here's my question. I removed the battery to see if there was a sticker on it to prevent battery drain before first use (I've seen it a lot on cameras and other devices), and I forgot to check which side of the battery was facing up. Should the "+" be facing up or down?

/Any other things I should be checking before punting back to Garmin?

Normal problems for me are either the battery or poor contact with the skin. Sometimes I have to move the thing around a bit on my chest to get a reading. Since you did a rescan I would bet the battery.

Plus sign should be facing up. The side with all the printing on it is the non-working side.

Sometimes mine doesn't pick up a heart beat until its above 100 or so.

Thanks - I wore mine through out my whole workout, and tried to re-scan several times. With my Polar, it sometimes takes 10 minutes to start reading accurately, and it's pretty consistent as to how wet it and I need to be to get a reading....and I know that my HR was consistenly over 140 during my workout, so there's something not right yet...I'll swap the battery (with the + side up), and see if that fixes it.

Guess what....it was the battery. Went to CVS, picked up a new CR 2032, installed it (+ side up), and works like a champ. Thanks!
