cycling after an appendectomy

Hello.

I recently had an appendectomy (8 days ago) and I am wondering how long I should wait before I can safely start riding again, and what the risks are. I asked my doctor but he was very vague and left before I could get a satisfactory answer out of him.

Thanks.

See another doctor.

Don’t push it. The large intestine is a dirty place; complications can be very severe.

I had an emergency appy at 18 - left the big old-timey scar. I was doing pushups beside the bed the next morning. But I'm nuts.

You should wait until your doctor says it's OK.

i had abdominal surgery and the doctor said six weeks... but it was a bit more serious than an appendix. But do whatever the doctor tells you and take it slow and easy... general anaesthesia takes a while to get out of your system and you can feel tired for a while.

When I had an emergency appendectomy, my doctor said two weeks from anything other than walking (and as little as possible), and four weeks before exercising. I'd still give your doctor a call.
