45mi ride tomorrow

In collegiate season so I would like to peak at the end of April, and then again in September.

Should I:
a) Ride it like I stole it for 2hrs
b) LSD in L3 (coggan) which will take ~2.5hrs
c) Some form of intervals

I've only been riding ~4-6hrs/wk since it's been cold (until this past week!). It's been a mix of muscle tension intervals, and 1-2hr hammer fests. I've been riding just under a year and only have 2500mi in my legs. What would be best for tomorrow? I could probably do more than 45mi if I wanted to/if it's recommended.

Thanks,
James

Hey James! Weather is great, eh?

Are you preping for the MSU race?

If you are asking what kind of 45 mi ride to do tomorrow, it depends what you did yesterday/earlier this week. If you have not pushed it this week I would do a tempo workout with a few sprints (full recovery) in the last 10 miles just to get the feeling of being on the road again. I just got home after doing a short tempo run from work (10.5 miles one way) on the lakefront followed by some short "traffic sprints" (10-<28mph) closer to home...really opened up the legs and, damn it felt great! Not a "real" training session, but, nevertheless, it kinda made me sad to get home,

If you did intervals yestterday, LSD.

It will be windy tomorrow (and rain?) so that should make you work sans hills.

I wish I could be out there! I am going to do a group ride Sat...it is the only day I can work out for any duration.

Yeah prepping for the MSU race. I might do Parkside this weekend just to make sure I know how to ride a crit still!

I wound up just going out and enjoying myself. Today was the first day it's been warm (70 degrees!!) so I wound up riding 67 miles instead of just the 45. It was sort of tempo, some sprints, but mostly cruising at a decent speed and working on my climbing (for all the hills in IL ).

There's no such thing as peaking for the UW-Madison race, so I've decided to just have fun this season in collegiate and peak for the Tour of Elk Grove. 67 miles at any decent pace is good enough for a base ride. Maybe I'll be a badass and do extra intervals a couple weeks leading up to UWM

If you want, hit me up on AIM and we'll chat more (iliveonnitro)
