Trader Joe's Favorites continued...
In the spirit of the Penne Pasta thread, What is your favorite Trader Joe's item?
I gotta go with the "bagged cookies" on the table. There is an oatmeal with peanuts that we can't get here in the East. When in Tucson, I stop at "Trader Paradise" immediately from the airport.

A new Trader Joe's opened this week - about 2 blocks from work. I'll have to head over and check them out during lunch one day next week.
Can I pick up anything for you while I'm there?

I'd love to pedal down "ta alanna" myself, and join ya'll. I never need an excuse to get into a TJ's.

I have had occassion to hang out with a sommalier in Italia.
Some of the wine they have at TJ's is = in quality to what is virtually illegal to take home from Italia.

My favorite RJ's item is their Italian Torta with sun dried tomatoes. I don't eat the stuff, I just monitor the production line making it. Tons of it. Every week. I like it because we have very few problems with that production line.
EDIT: If you want to see what I have helped to make look for the letters GG in the "Use By" line printed on the containers.

The fresh organic orange juice. Also the frozen organic orange juice. And all the other organic juices. We mix the fresh and the frozen half and half. Makes the fresh last longer. And of course the wine, cheese, and crackers. We also use the penne WW pasta, but only when we haven't time to make our own.

Spa Salad, Just Caesar Chicken, Pretzel rolls, Middle Eastern Flatbread, Challah, Naan. Hmm, I sense a bread theme... Anyway, My staple lunch is a sandwich that I make with the pretzel roll, avocado, just caesar chicken, and other condiments. The spa salad is my favorite of their packaged salad, but the chicken they use must be low-grade because it has lots of gristle that I always have to remove...

My new favorite is Trader Darwin's "Vitamin +" . It is TJ's answer to EmergenC (at half the price).

I love their "Nothing but...Banana, Flattened". Carrying bananas has now become far more convenient.
I am a candy addict so I try to cut down by substituting dried fruit. I also like their dried Ranier cherries.

Really good dried fruit: organic raisins, golden raisins, peaches, pears, plums (prune and other plums).
Almonds, walnuts, pistachios. . .
And I buy my cereals there : current favorite for flavor is a combo of Barbara's shredded oats and Uncle Sam. That combo will last me into the afternoon!

For me:
1) Dark chocolate bar. Less fat, and one square is enough
2) Pistachios
3) Canned kalamato olives
4) Canned black and garbanzo beans
5) Frozen halibut

Some of their coffees are good. Try their Wintry Blend for a spicy change of pace from straight coffee and their Decaf Really Smooth and Mellow blend is, well really smooth and mellow and tasty!

Someone (was it here or somewhere else?) recommended their canned, marinated bean salad. Try it, it is pretty good and would be delicousl over nice lettuce during the heat of the summer and it is pretty dang low fat too!
