Exactly what does Friels' recovery week entail?

spinning around at 60%maxHR for an hour a day, with maybe a day or 2 off?

That's kinda what I'm thinking.

Nope.

You want to keep intensity and frequency up while cutting volume. Say on your interval day you would have done 5 intervals do something like 2, on tempo day when you would have done an hour do 20-30min etc. Cut out LSD type rides all together.

Mentally this can be tough because you get all your stuff ready, get warmed up, do a little high intensity work and then have to cool down and go home, all while you feel like tearing up the road. You should feel like a raging animal stuck in a cage by the end of the week.
