Should I feed my cravings?
This morning I had a craving for sausage, bacon, eggs. I ate one sausage, half a slice of bacon.
I think I have an eating problem. I'm a compulsive eater. I can't stand it, that's why I'm a chef.

While I don't know you I wouldn't say that you have an eating problem from what you described. One sausage and half a slice of bacon is not an eating problem. Call me back when you eat the whole package of sausage, can't move because you are so full, and then go back and have some bacon anyway.

Sometimes when I get cravings for salty foods (like bacon or sausage), it's because I haven't hydrated well that day.
But sometimes I crave that stuff anyway, so YMMV. But more water may help, and certainly can't hurt.

They say you should never trust a skinny chef! One sausage, half a slice of bacon? Last time I had a craving I had 5 eggs, 4 sausages and half a pound of bacon. You must be very disciplined.

My cravings are for ice cream. I give myself one small scoop and eat it very slowly.
The scoop is about 1/4 cup, maybe a bit less and will keep my cravings from taking over.
If you deny yourself what you want, and don't learn to eat without denying yourself, you won't keep weight off when you go off a diet.
Moderation. . .eat anything but in moderation.

Oh and don't celebrate a weight milestone with food.
Buy yourself a jersey or a new component or something.
Just not a 3 pound t-bone steak!

Usually cravings signify that your body needs something. You may have needed salt or fat or protein. Count the calories and move on. One sausage and half a slice of bacon really isn't that much.

Cravings are your body's way of telling you that it needs something right? Yet I know if I succumb I'll be paying for the next three days. That's just not the way to live. No wonder I'm just 3lbs from overweight.

I'll just use this forum as a confession forum. Forgive me bikeforums for I have sinned.

I give in to cravings almost every day. Usually chocolate, ice cream or cheese. I try to eat less later, or ride an extra half hour or something. Try to, anyway!
Actually if you ride a lot, you can afford to eat 300 or 400 extra calories, and that covers most cravings. Also if you avoid caloric beverages, you can eat a lot of junk and not gain.

I dropped 65 lbs and hit my goal weight last fall. I ride, and I watch what I eat, but I am not neurotic about every bite, or every calorie. That would drive me nuts. I give into cravings, and my weight may go up a lb, then it goes right back down, because I get back on the wagon again, and all is well. I've maintained all winter. I think it is important to give into cravings from time to time, or we get burned out and give up. JMO

If you calculate your Calories of your cravings, subtract that from your total Caloric intake. Are you trying to lose weight? I think it's dangerous to assume, 'Oh I biked today, extra muffin for me' because you cannot accurately measure the amount of Calories burned. Pick a number, and stick with it, regardless of your activity.

Yes, you should feed your cravings, food and otherwise. Problem solved.
Aren't you the same guy that wolfed down all that sushi? I admire your gluttony. We should hang out sometime.
I hate to get all Dr. Phil on your ass but compulsive eating is usually a manifestation of deeper emotional issues. Are you happy with your life? Maybe you're bored? Maybe you're not getting laid?
Seriously, are you getting laid?

Dear OP - sorry for the hijack, and I would say just stay away from sushi places. I saw your sushi body-count on the other thread, and...wow.
