Knee pain...

I'm 23 years old. Started putting base miles in back in November, and got in shape to race this year.

I got a new road bike in April, and did not get properly fitted on it. Continuing with my workout (2 days a week intervals, 1 day a week long distance), my right knee started bothering me. Finally to the point where it would burn on any sort of climb. So I spent the money to get fitted back in late May. I eased off the riding in June (stopped intervals all together), and then picked back up again in July.

My problem is, its still giving me trouble. Not to the extent that it was originally, but enough to make my workouts suffer.

Has anyone else run into this problem? Is there something else I need to do?

Where exactly is the pain in the knee? It could be as simple as a seat adjustment or could be more complex....

(1) go back to where you got fitted, tell them what is going on they should take a look at the fitting again and make sure everything is still good with your positioning

(2) go see a Knee Specialist to get a good diagnosis of what is going on.

I have had Tendinitis in both knees for about 8 years, I am only 24 years old. After a few tries on fitting I have found the proper fit where I do not have pain anymore.

I am a tad older @ 47 and have had my bike professionally fitted. I found that two things cause me knee pain, 1. lack of fluids/electrolytes and/or 2. lifting my heel. Anecdoetal, but it seems to work for me.

Pain in front of knee, raise saddle slightly. Pain in back of knee, lower saddle slightly. Other than that, what others have said.
