I managed to get on the computrainer when I got home last night and had a pretty good workout. I did the same Sea Otter course that I did at the beginning of the month. A month ago it took me 81 minutes with an average wattage of 208 watts. This time it took me 76 minutes with an average of 222 watts. Not a bad improvement for such a little bit of time.

Still nowhere near where I need to be though.

I had a pretty good few days of riding / training.

Friday - Gym, upper body and 30 minutes elliptical machine
Saturday - Road ride - 41.3 miles, 1,850 feet climbing, 1,562 calories, 222 watts average
Sunday - Road ride - 32 miles, 2,100 feet climbing, 1,320 calories, 218 watts average
Monday - doc appt, no training
Tuesday - Road ride - 31.1 miles, 1,750 feet climbing, 1,250 calories, 199 watts average

Had a pretty good workout this evening. I downloaded one of the courses from the computrainer challenge website. The object of this ride is to stay in zone 2. I did the ride and averaged 201 watts, av hr was 139, distance 19.85 miles, time was 1:00:06. This was much better than the last zone 2 ride I did (12/5/07) where I averaged 180 watts. I burned a total of 725 calories!

I got on the scales this morning before my workout at the gym. I've lost three pounds over the past week. I'm currently at 192.5, it's a start! Hopefully I will be at 190 or below this time next week.

reading his thread makes me want to eat off of the dollar menu! Na, Ive lost a couple. Im not gonna sound the alarm yet. Its freaking COLD here. like 12 this morning. My heat pump has been on without stopping for about 30 hours. Screw cold weather.

My eating is back on track and it takes me a few days of being hungry and then Im ok with 1500 calories or so a day. At first, my body starves for it but after a few days, its ok. Kinda like caffeine, after 3 days, the headache stops.

Im hitting fitday hard too. It seems that If I use it, I do better.

Also, Im going to build a bike this winter. I wont be done till summer but it will keep me focused.

I may do that group buy from Pedal Force. Seems like a sexy frame to me.

What do you think low? Keep in mind that I have 3 kids, a mortgage (big one too) cars, insurance and all that. I cant dump a load into it at first. It will be sub 15 so it will take me till summer to part it up nice because of the price.

Im hittin the sack.

I think that pedal force frameset looks like an awesome deal. I wouldn't hesitate for a second if I were in the market. Just keep in mind that building a sub 15 pound bike isn't cheap.

As for the heat pump I can only dream.....I'm stuck with electric base board heat, it sucks. Three rooms of my house are almost comfortable, the rest are freezing. I can't wait until we buy our new home, hopefully it will be in the next few months.

Oh yeah, it's currently 7 degrees here.

Must be nice to be having a heat wave. Lucky!

Forgot to mention, had a good workout last night at spin class. Burned a little over 700 calories in just over an hour. This evening I will do an easy session on the trainer then I plan on riding at least two hours on both Saturday and Sunday.

Guess it's time for another update. I had a pretty productive weekend (and Friday). Burned a few calories, went into the pain zone for a while on an "easy" ride on Sunday. Did some climbing, basicly just had a good weekend.

Friday - "recovery" trainer ride. 45 minutes, 15.5 miles, 175 watts avg, 473 calories
Saturday - road ride. 29.6 miles, 119 minutes, 1,750 ft climbing, 219 watts avg, 1,109 calories
Sunday - road ride. 42.0 miles, 158, minutes, 2,700 ft climbing, 224 watts avg, 1,590 calories

This morning I went to the gym and did some upper body and core work. I plan on leaving work early today and getting in a recovery ride since the weather is nice. It will be a short ride but hopefully I can get in at least 20 miles or so.

Haven't weighed myself since Wednesday so no updates there. I plan on weighing myself again this Wednesday so I'll post then.

Had another good ride yesterday, just a recovery type ride but still fun. I ended up riding 26 miles and doing it at a relaxed enough pace that I could enjoy a conversation with a friend of mine that I haven't ridden with for a while. The ride took a little under 90 minutes with about 1,100 feet of climbing.

Planning a nice ride this evening if my legs co-operate then gym in the morning and weigh in to see if I've dropped any weight.

Thank ya. I've got a goal of 600 miles for this month. Not sure if will happen or not but I'm going to give it my best shot. On top of that I will also get in five evenings at spin class so I should get plenty of leg work this month.

I'm hoping to have over 200 miles in (since 1/1/08) after today's ride.

It's been 35-36° and raining here for what seems like forever. Sometimes a little snow mixed in. Riding outside is not the most fun I've ever had. Nothing like the sensation of water which your body has not yet had time to warm running into your shoes and gloves. Once a week has been enough of that for me. Yay for the rollers, spin class, and gym. Making progress anyway.

I've ridden in that crap my share as well and I'm sure I will spend many more days riding in it. Can't blame you for sticking inside the other six days though. As long as you are making progress that is all that matters. Keep it up!

Today was weigh in day, this morning the scales read 191.0 pounds. That is a loss of 1.5 pounds in the last week, 4.5 pounds in the past two weeks. I'll take it, especially if I can stay consistant. If I can continue averaging two pounds a week until my first race (2/16) I will be down to 181 pounds. If I can keep my muscle and lose pretty much all fat then I will be very happy with that and feel that I will be able to drop the rest of my weight over the next couple of months and be riding strong by April or May.

Anyway, yesterday I got out for a nice easy ride with the shop owner. We got in 37 miles, 1950 feet of climbing and I burned around 1,350 calories. This morning I went to the gym and did some upper body work. I did bench presses, concentration curls, pull downs, tricep workout, seated rows, and some core work. Tonight I'm planning on getting on the computrainer for 45 - 60 minutes at around 150 watts for a very easy recovery.

I ended up skipping the computrainer on Wednesday, decided I needed a day off the bike. The morning workout was good enough.

Thursday was spin class day, unfortuntely I didn't make it though. Right before I headed to class from the shop my wife called me and told me that she had to change her plans. This meant that I needed to go home to let my little girl out (my rat terrier). Once I got home I got on the computrainer and did a zone 2 ride for a little under an hour. I averaged 214 watts and burned a little over 700 watts.

Today (Friday) I went to the gym before work. I decided to get on the scale before my workout. I weigh exactly 190 pounds. Another pound down! Anyway, I did another upper body workout. Consisting of bench presses, curls, seated rows, tricep workout, pull downs, and seated rows. I'm already feeling it.

I'm planning on getting on the computrainer for about 30 - 45 minutes this evening for a very easy recovery spin below 155 watts. I have a pretty tough ride planned for tomorrow so I just want to loosen my legs up a little this evening.

Anyway, another pound gone......woooohoooo!!!!!!!

Reading this thread reminds me of my own battles. I'm currently 194 trying to get down to 175 before race season starts (tri).

I'm training 2 times a day 6 days a week, morning and night (3 swims, 3 rides, 3 runs, 3 weights) and eating about 3200 calories a day. Saw a 2lbs drop in the first week, fairly promising.

Considering i raced at around 187 last season, 175 should do wonders on the run leg.

Oh, hi lowcel, havent been around recently, good to see ya

Time for another update.

Friday - I ended up skipping the computrainer in the evening. I was tired and my legs were tired. I needed an evening off before Saturdays ride.

Saturday - Road bike - A tough 51 miles, 3,720 feet of climbing, 1,980 calories, 238 av watts

Sunday - Road bike - much easier recovery ride, 24 miles, 1,320 feet of climbing, 867 calories, 213 av watts

Monday (morning) - Upper body weights at the gym.

I went ahead and weighed myself this morning. I dropped another pound, current weight is 189.0 pounds.

Sunday was sunny here for a change, felt strong, pulled uphill at 28 in one spot and won two uphill sprints. Think I've finally gotten over the lung crap that plagued me all winter. Gained 2 pounds, but I'm only 8 pounds over summer weight. I'll lose it. First brevet is March 2. That's soon.

This "rest week" stuff is tough. I am doing pretty well with it though. I have taken the last two days off of the bike. I have made it to the gym the past three days though. Monday and today (Wednesday) were upper body days. Yesterday I did some lunges, squats, and cardio. Then I wasted the remainder of the day working 13 hours.

I'm planning on getting on the trainer this evening for an hour of tempo work. Hopefully that will burn a few calories since I've eaten like crap the past couple of days.
