The dreaded slump strikes again!
Well I have been enjoying a couple of months of strong cycling and now just as our 24 hour race approaches I feel I am dropping into a slump.
2 weeks ago I saw one day where I actually performed a new personal best pulling my daughter in her chariot but since that day even my recovery rides have seemed to be laborous. My next workout day was a joke performance wise and I am not feeling like doing a slow ride today at all. My next hard day should be wednesday so I will try to rest today and spin easy tomorrow.
It always seems to statr this way. An initial drop in energy/power and then a struggle to stay motivated and focused.
It really sucks that is is just three weeks from the only event I need top form for this year.
I think the upcoming century I was planning is going to get bypassed for some easy riding.
Anyone had any luck finding a way to rebound from this type of thing quickly?

Maybe your body is telling you that you need some rest. It is quite possible you can be overtraining. Look back through your training and see if you been giving yourself adequate recovery, as well as rest weeks (a week of low volume and lots of recovery).
If it's just plain ol' slump, try mixing up your training to make it seem new.
Good luck!

I think it is a combination of overtraining and rest problems. I have been riding almost exclusively road this year and with this mountain bike race coming up I have been trying to make up for the lack of trail riding over the summer.
I will be focusing on recovery this week and just work on single track skills but not speed.

And if you can, just take a couple of days off- not in a row, but like do 2 days of recovery cycling, then take a day off, then take another 2 days to do recovery rides, then take another day off.
I bet within a week, you'll be ready for that century with the 2 on, 1 off I described above.

It sure sounds like overtraining. You can not make up for lost time on the mountain bike by over doing it now, unfortunately. I was looking forward to meeting you and CB at the Six Gap ride.
