Rest period question
In order to get a lot of miles in during the winter I sometimes do trainer videos back to back until I get 100 miles or so. The thing is I take a small break in between videos. Usually somewhere between 5-10 minutes. This gives me time to refill a water bottle or 2 and eat something small usually a Power Bar or equivalent. It's not really that long of a break and I don't race. I like the videos for improving my overall fitness more than anything. Although the hill climbing ones were a huge benefit. My heart rate doesn't slow that much. Am I cheating myself with these breaks or is it more or less equal to small stops for red lights and such when on the road?

Just worry about getting your total time in.
I've read studies from the American College of Sports Medicine where they said that people who got an hour of fitness per day benefitted whether they did 30 minutes in the morning and 30 minutes in the evening or one hour all at once.
5- 10 minute break should not kill you. Go for it.

How did you make out with your certification testing? I remembe you said you had a few that you were going to add to your list.
