What causes knee pain when you squat or stretch ?

Just wondering. I get a pain in my left knee if I stretch it by bending my leg back behind my glutes, or just simply when I squat down to pick something up etc...

The pain is deep within the center of the knee itself, more to the back/inner section.

???

Perhaps a hyper extension or other trauma? I dislocated my knee last weekend and I have the same thing now. Of course I think you would remember your knee bending 30 degrees to the side... For some stupid reason I decided to take a week off from riding and it barely showed any improvement. I finally decided to ride regular intensity yesterday and my knee felt great afterwards. Cycling really is great physical therapy. Are you riding daily now?

No I have not hyper extended my knee.

I keep on riding. Only hurts when I'm off the bike or do the above mentioned activities.

Sometimes it aches all over the entire knee area.

I was scared that it could be bowling related, so I stopped bowling a few months ago and the problem persists.

Well thats as far as my experience goes with this type of pain and symptoms. Any body else have this? Maybe ice it after a ride to reduce swelling? Time to call the doc, man.

If I don't stretch my knees regularly, they get a similar sort of feeling in them. I stretch by doing deep squats and bouncing.

But I only have a bit of pain. If it doesn't go away, go see somebody about it.
