Hammer Products
I recently bought some Hammer bibs and to my suprise/delight, Hammer decided to send me a bunch of free samples of their supplements. They sent me:
Gel Packets (3)
Hammer Bar
Endurolytes
Recoverite
Perpetuem
Heed
I'm really excited to use this stuff, I just don't know the proper time to use it. I usually go on around 30 mile rides and it takes me quite a while. I average around 12.9 mph and it takes me about 2 hours and 30 mins. When and what should I use on my rides? Should I use Heed and eat a Gel Packet on the same ride, or should I just do one or the other?
Also, I'm cycling primarily to loose weight. Will these products benefit or impede my weight loss? Thanks for the help.

Hammer's website has a lot of reading material on endurance & nutrition, including a section on product usage.

the best part about placing that first order is the free stuff they send you!!
calories are calories no matter where the come from. so, for sure they can and will effect any weight loss program if you do not account for the calorie intake.
like it was said above, check out their site for useage instructions. i use HEED on most my rides. it is a sports drink that can be used like Gatorade. i use Gels for a pick me up when i feel sluggish and for calories on longer rides. i use Recoverite after hard rides of 2 plus hours. it really helps recover and control of post ride hunger.
for me, i normally just go with on bottle of HEED and one of water on most rides under 3 hours. of course, it always depends on the conditions and the effort.
later.
