Some weird problems.

Hey, everyone!

I've been noticing a few weird issues (to me) with my body, and I was wondering if anyone had some feedback.
  • When I wake up, my morning resting heart rate (MRHR) is really high! Two days ago when I measured it, it was over 100 bpm, when my resting heart rate is normally 60 bpm! Yesterday, it was higher than my RHR as well. I can't be overtrained because I've cycled less than my usual weekly mileage this week. I slept in yesterday, and, as I noted, it was still high. What else could cause this?
  • I was doing Hindu squats today as part of my first day of calisthenics training, and I noticed that every time I squat down, I hear a crunching sound in my knees. I don't have any pain, but it's there every single time I do it. I don't have any pain while I'm on the bike or walking (with the exception of sore legs). I've heard that this is usually due to lack of lubrication in that area, signaling pre-arhritic conditions. Are there any other causes?
  • I monitor my weight from time to time, and as of this week, it has been fluctuating between 153 and 155 pounds, which is lower than the usual 155-160 range. However, I'm noticing that there is a small deposit of what feels like fat (when I rub it, I feel little ball-like things) which was not there before. One bad habit that I have (and that I need to quit) is eating cereal at night. I usually eat it two hours or so before I go to bed...but I get hungry at night, regardless of what I eat for dinner hours before. I don't know if that can contribute to things like this.

This might be a loaded list, but any help or advice is greatly appreciated (as always). Thanks!

Part 1:

You probably getting sick or dehydrated (which would also explain the reduced weight).

Part 2:

Crepitus without pain is OK; pain is the important indicator.

Part 3:

Simple carbs don't make a good bedtime snack. Try a slow digesting protein like cottage cheese instead.

But wouldn't I feel other symptoms as well if it were just dehydration?

I try eating either 1/2 cup of corn or a slice or two of turkey to subside that, but it doesn't work as well. I think it's a mental thing.

I don't know 1/100th of what enthalpic knows, but anecdotally, I would go with you're getting sick. I have a 6 year old that just started a new school and in the last 3 weeks she has brought home some sort of bug twice. I can tell about 3 days before any sysmtoms show that my resting HR is 10-15 beats above normal. Then it hits.

3 years ago, when my daughter started in daycare, the same thing was happening and I stayed sick for almost six weeks. I went to the doctor and told him I thought there was something seriously wrong with my immune system. He said I was probably catching a "new" virus every 10 days or so that I had no immunity to. He told me to suck it up and sent me home.

This may or may not apply to you. Good luck.
