    Losing muscle mass

I have not been riding much this past month, only 10 times in the last 30 days. I seem to be losing muscle mass in my legs. I just noticed it recently after doing a 3 hour mountain bike ride. I do not feel any weaker than before, this season has bean going pretty well, only 482 miles/47 hours so far, but a good bit of spinning unaccounted for as mileage in the first two months. Any thoughts on what I am doing wrong or need to do to change this around?
So, if you're in the car, waiting impatiently. . . get over it - you're not that special.

I'm a bodybuilder/cyclist and I have to really watch what I eat when I change up my routine. Your spinning classes are burning a lot of calories and if you are sacrificng muscle mass, I suspect you need to adjust your nutrition. Mainly, are you eating enough lean protein and calories?

Ever since I started biking, I lost an inch and a half on my waist and gained 5 pounds. You might be losing fat and gaining muscle or getting leaner.

Before you decide if you are really losing muscle mass or not, perhaps it would be a good idea to go in to a health club and let a professional trainer do a bodyfat composition analysis on you first. That way, you can be sure because you never know if you're losing muscle vs. shaved off some fat.

Definately get a proper body composition test done like coffee said. You don't want to play with guesswork in regards to loosing muscle and fat.

I should take my own advice. Been eating clean, hiking, biking, hitting the weights, quit the booze and gained 7 pounds in 2 months. Hahaha...
