it burns when I pee! is it because of gatorade?
Hi,
The last days when I finish riding my MTB and I have to take a pee I have notice that the color is real orange and I feel a burning sensation when I start peeing.
I normally drink about +/- 3 liter gatorade(when riding).....is that the reason**********

I'd see a doctor. Maybe a urinary tract infection? Plus, when pee is dark colored, it's indicative of dehydration a lot of the time. If you have some kind of kidney problem, it could need immediate attention. See a doctor asap, don't wallow around the forums on this one!

The discolored urine could be caused by blood in your urine. You should see a doctor.

When you pee try to hit the dry part of the toilet bowl. Afterwards, look at the bowl surface and look for fine crystals.
If you can see them then you need more fresh water. I used to get that when I had heartburn problems and took a boatload of TUMS. The high levels of calcium can not stay in solution and precipitate out as a calcium salt.
Dark urine means dehydration yet you're taking in a lot of electrolytes... so you might be seeing (peeing? ) something like I had.

Passing a jagged piece of calcium's a lot more painful than plain burning, it's like getting your balls sawed off, so to speak

Gatorade will rot your teeth. The acid breaks down your tooth enamel and the sugar gets in there and rots. Gatorade = sugar + water + acid + artificial coloring.
I drink V8 juice before and after the ride and plain water during.

Best for dehydration is Water, more water and then a load more water. It has nothing in it to affect you, does the rehydration trick better than anything else, probably tastes better, and is a lot cheaper.

3 liters of gatorade is ALOT, burning pee or not, you don't need that much.
And I ride in the Utah sun! Sometimes I'll drink 1/2 L of gatorade (powdered mix) before a ride and 1/2 after a ride if it was really hot and sweaty that day.

The reason is that most people aren't all that comfortable with a doctor, espescially if you haven't had to see one much. In fact many people have a fear of the DR. I am not saying you do, I am just making an observation. I used to HATE going to the Doctor. That was until I got a family and realized the importance of Doctors. In many cases they can keep your family alive and together where, without them you might be missing one or another member. To me that taught me that a little fear over the Doctor is EASY to get over.
Instead of worrying anymore i just call the DR's office. I still don't like it but realize that it is part of life. If you intend to stay on this planet for a long time, the Doctor will likely be a part of that plan. Besides it is very reassuring to find out that you are OK and nothing is wrong with you. It beats the heck out of worrying for day, weeks, months or years.

If your urine has high levels of potassium you may feel a burning sensation.
Does excess gatorade consuption lead to unused potassium excretion? I dont know....but high potassium levels cause burning sensations....

You can buy an over the counter UTI test kit at most drug stores if you want to save yourself a trip to the Doc. If it is positive then either see a Dr. or take alot of Vit C and it will go away. The acidity from the Vit C will kill the infection. I have done this myself and it works.
If your not comfortable with trying to kill it yourself go to the Dr. as many have stated.

Thank you all for your input.
I am suspicious of the reason that cause this.
I bought the gatorade in powder(instant mix) and made it extra strong which I put in my camelback(3 liter) also I had a botle of another brand of energy drink which I also drink.
If that is the reason then my question is why gatorade does not warn people about this??
