Hammer Nutrition - HEED & Recoverite

I just want to let everyone know of some problems I have encountered with Hammer's HEED and Recoverite products.

With Recoverite, the enclosed scoop is wrong - too large - so you end up using the product up faster costing you more money. You also consume more calories per hour than you intended. Weigh the product to resolve the problem.

With the 80 serving HEED, I have encountered two different problems. The first is missing product. What I mean is the container is short product. To resolve this, return the product under their guarantee. The second problem is the same one with the Recoverite - the enclosed scoop is wrong - too large. This means you end up using the product up faster costing you more money. You also consume more calories per hour than you intended. Weigh the product to resolve this problem.

Is anyone else encountering these problems or other problems with the superior products by Hammer Nutrition?

Hammer Nutrition is aware of the problems I listed above, but I do not see a posting on their web site nor am I receiving any warning(s) when I receive my orders from them.

when you say the container is "short" on product, I assume you mean it's not completely full?
did you weigh it? it's sold by weight, not volume.

Hammer Nutrition's 80 serving HEED

No, but what you say is true. Hammer states that is due to product settling.

Another way to word what I was trying to say is that there are not 80 servings [@ 29g each] in the container. There are less than 80 servings. The total product weight should be 2,320g [80 servings times 29g each serving].

I agree aham23. Hammer's products rock! They are all I use. I highly recommend them.

If you follow the serving instructions on the products I mention AND you were sent the wrong scoop, you will understand the problem I am describing when you weigh your product use. Neither of these two product's instructions state to fill to the line. If you have a line on your scoop, it is probably the wrong scoop. That is one of the problems I am trying to help people with.

Biased poll...

Shouldn't one of the options be 'no problems at all'?

That is -- unless you're wanting the results to show that 100% of the respondents have problems with hammer products.

co_rog - my intent behind the poll was to find out if others were experiencing the same thing, and if so to what extent.

Hey, it's your poll and you can do what you wish. I'm just saying that if you had a 'no problems' option it would give you a better idea of the size of the issue. As it is you initially come across as bashing Hammer.

co_rog - I'm open to ideas. Thank you btw. I did look at implementing your idea yesterday, but I did not see a way to edit the poll. Is there a way? I see a way to edit my post but not the poll.

The only problems I've encoutered with Hammer Nutrition products is that Sustained Energy tastes horrible after 300 km on the bicycle ... and HEED makes me hiccup occasionally. However, making me hiccup occasionally is not enough to keep me from using it. HEED is wonderful stuff!!

I've also never measured any of my sports drinks with the scoop provided ... it's just there as a convenient way to get the power out of the container and into the bottle. I measure to taste.

yeah I've used Cytomax for many years but, at least in my experience, I get crampy after about 60-70 miles with Cytomax, while the Hammer stuff lets me ride longer.

Cytomax, OTOH, I use for any super-hard ride under 65 miles, because it just makes me feel faster than HEED for that time period.

First off let me say Hammer products are the best I have used in my 20+ years of cycling and I will continue using them forever.

I have encountered the issue that garoadie has brought up. Hammer serving instructions say " 1 rounded scoop" or two scoops, depending on the product. With my Heed I noticed that I was going through the product really quickly. It did not seem like I was getting 80 servings out of the container. One day for some reason I decided to weigh the "rounded scoop" of Heed. Serving size on Heed's container show 29 grams for a rounded scoop. To my amazement it weighed 43 grams! That explains why I was going through the container too fast. The 80 serving Heed has turned into 54 servings. I plan on contacting Hammer about this very soon. They need to change the scoop or the serving instructions. Also I discovered that the Recoverite measured with a similar error.

Hammer preaches their science on calories per hour, fueling right, etc. When using "rounded scoops" the caloric intake per hour exceeds their own recommendations. I have recently weighed and figured out where to fill the scoop with Heed and should get 80 servings per container. However, I feel Hammer needs to correct the error and calculate customers purchase history versus usage and provide some replacement product since customers have been using it up faster than they should have. It is not fair to the customer that by following the serving instructions they used the product up quicker than designed.

I personally prefer Powerbar Endurance for my during ride drink but just love the Hammer Recoverite.. It is one of the best after workout recovery drinks.. If the scoop is slightly too big, just take 3/4 scoops to adapt, this is not a big issue.. It is a big issue when the product just stinks and doesn't do what is advertised, that is a bigger issue than the scoop being too large..

NO Problems with Hammer here. HEED is best drink I have found for MY needs and service has always been great.

Not sure how many servings I get out of "80 serving" jugs as I mix to desired taste. (Sometimes more product, sometimes less)

If your "poll" is setup to truly represent other customer experiences you need to update it to show "No problems"

Here you go CastIron -

"We apologize but we had a small batch of Heed that had the incorrect scoop sizes in them. We thought we had intercepted all of these but it sounds like there were still a few left."

So they admit an error and claimed to have corrected it. Did they not correct it or have you not checked?
