Interesting HR observation
When I'm riding rollers/trainer and maintaining a given
HR (say 141 ) if I'm on the hoods/dropouts it holds fairly stable for a given RPM. If however I sit up I notice an almost immediate increase in HR, of about 4 - 10 BPM. I would have thought that being upright would give a more open diaphram, easier breathing etc. and not effect HR. I'd chalk it upto an increase due to the movement of sitting up but it seems to increase and stay at an elevate level. Anyone else notice anything like this? Marty |
Yep, I've seen that.
I've also seen that when I hit my upper HR limit on my monitor and then remove one hand from the bar and lower to my side...I'll drop a few beats! I found this by accident as I have troubles with numbness in my hands. Doesn't work all the time, but I've seen it enough to take notice. |
I've noticed that after I hit my max HR and fall off my bike my hr goes down.

Some of us are a bit older, and struggle to reach our max HR. but when we do, there is a reason. I have one particular OFFroad hill that takes Bike skill aswell as fitness to get up. I find that due to everyone else failing this hill, I will get my HR 10 above my age max, make the hill and then get off the bike before I fall off. Lying Down of my own free will does not get my HR down. The only thing that does, is getting on the bike, even though Knackered, and spinning for about 2 minutes. |
