2 short sets or one long?

the gym at my school only allows half hour sittings on cardio machines. so when using the stationary, would you advise trying to get two of these half hour sections as close together as possible (possibly consecutive if i just jump from one machine to another), or doing one in the morning and one in the evening? i'm thinking getting as much as possible all in one sitting is better. any thoughts?

Consecutive. I'll pause for 1-2 minutes to wring out my headband and drink some sports drink. Then key the machine back up. Stresses your energy production systems more effectively.

My vote says not consecutive - conditional upon you pushing yourself at a harder rate for 30 minutes, than you would for 60 minutes, and also if you warm-up and cool-down properly for each session. You also have the benefit of two recovery periods.

On the other hand, if your two 30 minute sessions are at the same intensity as a 60 minute session, then a single consecutive session would be less hassle.
