assuming you are a guy, 100% of the iron rec. is overkill, and may be pro-oxidant.

I alternate between centrum performance and whatever is on sale. I have not noticed any difference in my energy level between all supplements. However, I tend to be fairly energetic.
When I started taking it I was suffering from a severly painful gi issue and it helped out quite a bit. I believe this was due to an imbalance cause by chronic bleeding and any multivitamin may have helped.

If you are male and eat red meat, it might be best to get something without iron.

Vitamin supplements will not help with energy, unless you have some major deficiency. You are best off eating a balanced diet instead.

That said, there is ginseng, and herbal stimulant in that supplement and that is probably the cause of the boost (that, or placebo effect). You could buy real ginseng much cheaper, but be aware that it can affect you adversely if you have hypertension.

I echo what most everyone above says about Iron.
I am still a ways from 50yo but take a Centrum Silver (everything above except ZERO Iron) Not sure if the vitamin does anything or if I "feel" any different, but I consider it cheap insurance.

I eat very little red meat due to having blood pressure issues (which have been lowering since biking more and more) and I also drink a lot of green tea, which means I don't absorb iron as well.

I have noticed a slight boost in energy since I've started taking it (About a week after I started taking it) but I'm not hyper or anything, and my commute to work seems a little easier.

i took centrum performance for several years and never noticed any benefits. maybe they were there, but they were not obvious. more recently i am taking the walmart version of regular centrum. when i maintain a proper diet and rest i see benefits no matter what supplements i am popping. later.
