Training while injured

Last weekend on Saturday I took a spill on the bike. Yesterday I finally got back into things, went to the gym for a lifting session (minus some things that would take some hand strength - sprained hand). This morning I just did a run TT and my time was slower than past TT's, and my average heart rate seemed abnormally high for the 20 minutes (180 something, at a 7:29 pace). My question to you folks is this, if you have a lot of road rash, and a sprained (puffy) hand, and you go for a TT run, is the healing process supposed to sap a lot of energy, and make my heart work faster due to everything being healed/worked on? I couldn't of lost that much fitness since Saturday right? I typically could do a run TT with around a 7 minute pace, and a 170 heart rate earlier this season!?

That is correct. Now take a step back. A recent crash, trying to train in the face of injuries, elevated heart rate during exercise.

Get a clue, back off, regroup. Focus on a bigger picture and learn to rest whether or not you think you "deserve" to.

Usually when I take 4+ days off the bike, my first day back my pace is slower. The second day I'm usually back to my old self. Couple your situation with a crash, you may be a little gun shy.

Go for a ride today and see how your pace is. You really don't loose any fitness in 4 days.
