I like it better than Gatorade because Gatorade has high fructose corn syrup. It's supposed to help with recovery but I'm not sure it helps with the disposal of lactic acid. Whether it helps with fatigue probably depends on the cause of the fatigue.

I get it at Perfomance when they have sales. Last time I went I got one, and the other was 1/2 off!

Accelerade has worked great for me - much much better than powdered gatorade did. But people have very different reactions to hydration drinks - you need to try some out and see which ones work for you.

Mds, premixed normal gatorade has HFCS. Gatorade endurance is (last time I checked) sweetened with sucrose, and the powdered version is also sweetened with sucrose.

Thanks fo the clarification. I had given up on Gatorade before the company started selling Endurance, so I haven't tried it yet. I realize that sugar (i.e., sucrose) is great for immediate energy, but I generally prefer to drink lower calorie stuff. Recently I've been using an electrolyte replacement called Nuun. It comes in the form of a tablet and you dissolve it in water, like Alka-Seltzer.

I like Accelerade, especially the blue raspberry flavor.

But for rides where I don't need the calories, I like Nuun (as mentioned above.)

Taste of Accelarade

Tried fruit punch today
Worked great as I had more stamina and recovered better
However, the stuff tastes horrible
any ideas on how to mix it better or with something else to improve the taste?

I used Accelerade for about a year and I have several comments regarding it:

1.) Taste - I often found the taste too sweet or the flavors just off. Especially their recovery stuff just tasted like cardboard. I shared it with some of my friends and they didn't like it.

2.) Stomach - Since Accelerade contains protein, if you take too much of it, it will send your stomach into a tizzy. You need to be careful not to mix it too strong. Also, there are versions with caffeine. I found that this made my stomach turn, again if you drank too much of it during a ride or race.

I would highly recommend Hammer Nutrition's stuff, which is what I use now. Their HEED drink has genuinely GOOD flavors and so does their Gel. Best in the business as far as myself and my teammates are concerned. Use HEED as your drink or the Gel and drink water. Their recovery drink also tastes like you are drinking something that it is supposed to be. None of the drinks are too sweet either and use natural sweeteners (I hate high fructose corn syrup).

Try some via my referral link below and get the discount. I think you'll like it.

I like it if you can find it in bottles. I have the powdered form and don't like it as much. Unless I'm doing something wrong, which is very possible, it doesn't mix properly and comes out a little "chunky".

i used their sports drink for a bit. a bit too sweet for me and tough to get down when it got warm. the protein would mess with me on longer rides too. jumped to Hammer Heed after getting some free samples and have never looked back. later.

Hammer Help needed

Okay!
I have use Accelade for over a years.
I have found I get some issues on race days. My Stomach kills me after a race. Could this be from all the caffeine?
I will drink accelerate in the water and take a couple gel packs during a race around 1 1/2 hours. Then a Recovery after.

If I switch to Hammer what would be the regiment?
Water
Gel
Recovery
What are there products and recomendations?

I use Accelerade, but can't drink it full strength. I back off to 1/3 or so strength, and I can drink it much better. On rides requiring multiple bottle fill-ups I'll go from 2 bottles of Accelerade to 1 of just water. After 60, 70 miles I needs plain water with the stuff...

I've tried Hammer products, and Perpetuem is nice....

Usually with Hammer's stuff, you choose either the HEED drink or the Hammer Gel for pre and during ride energy. I personally use the HEED and a friend of mine uses exclusively Hammer Gel. Both seem to work just as well. The Hammer Gel tastes awesome, however, you have to pull it out of your back pocket to use it each time (they have a flask and a large bottle that you can refill it with to save $$). A plus with that strategy is you just bring water and your Hammer Gel and that's it.

I have never had any stomach problems with Hammer's stuff and would highly recommend it. Their Recoverite is great for post ride recovery as well. I never used to drink a recovery drink until I started riding more seriously and now and it makes a huge difference. If you decide to make the plunge, use the link in my signature below for a first-time trial discount!

I like Accelerade. When I ran out last time, I got a tub of cytomax. I like the Accelerade better than cytomax. Cytomax is too sweet for me. Nashbar is having a 50% sale on Accelerade. I bought 2 tubs of the berry. I have never tried HEED. Accelerade is an acquired taste and it is better cold.

If you find accelerade too sweet (as I do) you might want to try their "hydration" formula

https://www.accelsport.com/product-in...formation.html

At first it would appear that the "hydro" formulation is just a dilute form of regular accelerade, but I think they also use a different carbohydrate composition.

Personally, i prefer the Hydro formulation over the regular accelerade.

Buy it from a place like luckyvitamin where it is relatively inexpensive.

Seriously, that stuff tastes like crack hole juice. I mean, it's gotta be like lickin' taint.

Having said that, I found if you drink it super incredibly cold, it tastes REALLY GREAT. But once it starts to warm up... uuugh. I'd rather drink pond-scum laced puddle water.

Accelerade works well for me (blue rasperry), but hydration drinks are a very personal thing, so you need to try some and find out what works for you.
