No I have not.
Unless one is an extremely high level racer, you are not going to make any money cycling.
Amateur cyclists, which is 99.999% of us, can achieve very impressive results with training and diet. Both of which are good for you.
Nearly all of the performance enhancing drugs have dangerous side effects. I suppose you have heard of the grotesque effects of steroids. Just look at Barry Bonds for heavens sake. Epogen which is used for increasing red blood cells can cause a fatal thickening of the blood. A european cycling team suffered a sizeable number of fatalities among its riders fooling around with this stuff. I guess they did not get the dosage right. If you are professionally changed in physiology, biochemistry and pharmacology, well you might be able to do it yourself. Even then, it is not good to self medicate. People are very good at deceiving themselves.
Now if I were a professional athelete making a bunch of money every year, it would be different. A small performance gain might be enough to push one from the also ran to the podium. Or if one was a top athelete, it could extend your career and paychecks for a few years. But for me that is just not the case.
You can get very good results by training and diet. You get marginal results with performance enhancing drugs. The marginal results can be meaningful in competition. But for me climbing the local big hill in 190 seconds vs 200 seconds just is not important. There is also a substantial risk at using these things. The risk is magnified by ignorence. I am trained in these areas and I would not think of doing it. The risk/reward ratio is all against it.
To sum up. You can get very impressive results just with intelligent training. Performance enhancing drugs may provide a very modest performance increase. But there is a high risk of serious consequences to your health using performance enhancing drugs. Using them just does not seem to make any sense.
