Anyone who does NOT like HEED?

Tried Lemon-Lime and Mandarin the other day.... I was not fond, at all. I'm not expecting Gatorade but HEED had sort of a milky? aftertaste that I found offputting. Any recommendations or can I expect all of them (Cytomax, Clif, etc.) to possess similar taste profiles?

Heed has a chalky taste. GU20, Motortabs, Vitalyte, and Zym are all good choices and dont have that taste Heed has...

Last century I was one had free HEED at the rest stops. It literally made me want to puke. Threw it out and filled up with water at the next stop.

they all taste different. i found Cytomax way too sweet. Accelerade messed with my tummy on longer rides due to the protien in it. i like HEED a lot, but i use slightly less mix than suggested by Hammer when mixing a 24 oz bottle. find what works for you. later.

The milky aftertaste is from the maltodextrin.

If you don't like Heed, don't try plain maltodextrin.

I found that "EFS" tastes great and actually works.it kept my endurance up as stated. Heed works, but tastes like crap. Cytomax did not work for me at all, I got cramps and lack energy while using it. I have not tried anything else outside of what I have stated. EFS works for me and the buck stops there as for as I am concerned.

i can't stand it anymore. i have a jug of the lime flavored that i'm just going to chunk. if i'm riding for less than 2hr i just use water. longer than that and i'll use perpetuem.

I haven't found a flavor of Heed I like very much. If I use it, it has to be pretty dilute. I do like Perpetuem though.

I don't like Heed at all. But I use a mixture of gatorade (cool blue) 70%, water 30% and Cytomax (about a tablespoon of tropical fruit powder). It works for me and I don't find it too sweet.

It's funny ... I don't like milk or cream, and I especially hate milk or cream in coffee and tea, but I loved that milky aftertaste of HEED ... what a relief after the blech aftertaste of Gatorade!! I'd drink HEED as a beverage, except that it contains too many calories for a regular every-day beverage.

Wolfpack, if there were any way I could get ahold of your HEED, I would. I haven't sourced any out here in Australia yet.

I initially hated HEED. I threw out a bunch of Lemon-lime mix. I found the orange to be more palatable, and have grown to "like" it.

Cytomax Lite isn't bad.

If I need to use something else, I just dilute it 50/50 with water and typically add a tiny pinch of salt.

I find PowerBar Endurance and Gels work best with my internals. I like Fruit Punch the best and Strawberry/Banana Gels. I tried Heed and Cytomax products for several months each and my stomach didn't care for them. The sales that Performance and Nashbar have on PowerBar products make them pretty cost effective also.

Why the HEED bashing thread? Why not just suggest what you like rather than bash something you dislike? Everyone has different tastes and we want to encourage others to try new things. I for one have tried Accelerade, Gatorade, Powerade, Exceed, and Cytomax and have settled on HEED which I think tastes great.

The OP didn't like HEED and was looking for alternative recommendations

didn't like Heed - hated perpetuum

Lived with it for a while because it worked but now have found and love Infinit's custom drinks. The flavor/texture is great, dissolves quickly, doesn't turn as quickly. Hate to get rid of the Heed and Perpetuum that I purchased but won't ever use it if I can help it.

I use lemon flavored E-Load. Works well and has a nice clean flavour, not chalky. I use it at half strength though. I also liked Heed but it didn't agree with me.

I've only used Melon, taste ok to me. I don't use any more than a 1 1/2 scoop and have added .25 scoop of Cytomax for taste.

I'd be hard pressed to ever make another bottle of straight Cytomax.
