Advice on weight equipment?
I want to put together a home gym, and I thought I would see if anyone has any advice as what to look for or avoid.
I have been away from my bike for the last month or so, but have had access to a cheep bench and about 100lb of weights, and I have been taking advantage of it to build and maintain muscle... I have also found that I enjoy working out with weight.
My plan is to hit up CL and find some weights, good bar, and a good bench. after that I'm not to sure what to look for. I think I would like a tower that would allow me to move the bench and do squats, and a bench that has a leg developer and curl attachment... at least I think I do.
Any advice would be great, as would links to information about what to look for or what to avoid.
I have some adjustable dumbbells so I was thinking I would stick with a 1" bar, any reason not to?
Like I said I feel like I'm walking into this a little blind, so any info/advice would be great... I'm looking to become healthier and stronger, not become a weightlifter, ultimately I want to become a more complete cyclist.

Something to do pullups with.
Something to do dips on.
A treadmill for running.
Some free weights for arms.
A straight bar with weighted disks for squats.
A pool for swimming.
A trainer for your bike.
Too much? Over the top?

Florida? I'm jealous! It's gorgeous up here this time of year but it doesn't last. I would love to have year round outdoor warm weather activities! ENJOY!

I used to lift some weights at home I was very happy with a couple of weight adjustable dumbells and a bench. I did push up with push up bars. I would like to have had a pull up bar. I was surprise how effective the small collection of equipment could be. I wasn't turning into a body builder or anything but I got alot stronger. These days I have a gym.

I am looking to cross train and build muscle and become toned... gotta look good on the beach.
My gf was also recently in a car accident and she will be needing to build some muscle after recovery is over to help her in the long run.
I'm hoping she takes to it and wants to work out with me every once in a while.
