Sick Heart

I recently took two weeks off from training, sick with really bad congestion. It stayed mostly in the head region of my body. The week I started back on the bike, I was still a little sick but I felt I could still race. Anyway, I did 3 days of recovery rides, 1 race pace Group Ride and 1 race. I noticed my Max HR was 10bpm higher than normal. In truth in all zones it was 10bpm higher. But I was surprised that my Max HR could be so much higher - 10bpm is like 10yrs younger according to the questionable wisdom around your HR vs age.
The week following the race my HR returned to normal in all zones including Max.

Anyone have any thoughts, wisdom or similar experiences?

just more evidence that HR is highly variable... and IMO its only useful within a few contexts.
