Quoting Chilled: "Everything in moderation!!!"

Yes, but we mustn't be too moderate, according to the article:

"For those drinking little - less than a shot of vodka a day for instance - the risk [of heart disease] was reduced by 35%. And for those who drank anything from three shots to more than 11 shots each day, the risk worked out an average of 50% less."

Of course, after a couple of drinks a day, your rates of death from all causes other than heart disease start climbing more than the risk of heart diease drops. IIRC, this, and health professionals being shy to recommend drinking, is why the recommended max intake for guys is 2 a day.

If you're an alcoholic, you're definitely better off as a teetotaler.

What is the trend in posting a vague question with a link? I'm not questioning this specific one but why not provide details? This is more like TV news reporting trying to seek interest.

What are you talking about? You are the first one to pose a question in this entire thread.

Yes, But Green Tea will make you look a lot more desirable to fat girls while protecting your heart.

And away from the silly business, green tea just doesn't protect your heart, it has heeps more health benefits than that.

Broad brush stroke.... 'nothing but'... not reality.

In moderation... some alcohol is well proven to enhance heart health. Moderation.. it can be used with intelligence. Just like exercise..........

You are 5.6 times more likely to seriously injure yourself riding with a blood alcohol level >= 0.02 g/dL and 20 times more likely with a blood alcohol level >= 0.08 g/dL according to Guohua, et. al., "Use of Alcohol as a Risk Factor for Bicycling Injury," JAMA, vol. 285, No. 7, p. 893 - 896. So, whatever the health effects of alcohol, you really shouldn't drink and ride.

However, if you fill out any health assessment form and indicate that you have more that 2-3 drinks a week, you automatically get the concerned voice that maybe you have an "alcohol problem".
Lord save us from the health nazis.

It certainly does. Just cut out the heart and drop it into 95% ethanol and it will be preserved just fine!
