V8 as pre-workout drink?

I was drinking some V8 the other day, and I noticed that an 8 oz. serving has "twice the potassium of a banana!" Also, the stuff is pretty loaded with sodium -- even the low-salt variety. I haven't tried V8 before a workout, but it seems to have a good amount of electrolytes, if nothing else.

P.S. I tried to do a forum search because I'm sure this isn't a new idea. Unfortunately, "V8" was too short to use as a search time.

I get my electrolytes during my rides from Gatorade and after my rides from dried fruit, yogurt, V8, etc.
Before and during the rides my main goal is to be/stay hydrated.

If v8 sits on your stomach OK, especially when you're doing a hard ride, it would probably make a decent preride drink. As you mentioned, it's got tons of electrolytes so you might be able to ride longer before needing to take any more in. It doesn't have a lot of calories, so you would be relying mostly on your glycogen stores for fuel.

I like V-8 juice but I use it either during the ride or after the ride and only on either long rides or rides in 85 degree and above.

Get some coconuts and drink Gods natural energy drink, coco water is high in electrolytes. Screw v8, just another canned garbage drink.
